The Present- Participle is sormed by adding tng to the Verb; as, turn, turning. Verbs ending in e omit the e in the Present Participle: as, love, loving. Verbs ending with a single consonant preceded by a single Vowel, and, is os more than one Syllable, having the accent on the last Syllable, double the Consonant in the Present Participle, as well as in every other part os the Verb in which a Syllable is added: as, put, putting, putteth; forgot, forgetting, forgetteth j abet, abetting, abetted 3. DVERBS are added to Verbs, and to Ad circumstance os an action, or quality; as, the manner, order, time, place, distance, motion, relation, quantity, quality, comparison, doubt, affirmation, negation, demonstration, interrogation. 3 Some Verbs having the Accent on the last Syllable but one, as iuorjhf, counsel, are represented in like manner, as doubling the last consonant in thelfermation os those parts os the Verb, in which a Syllable is added; as war/hipping, ctunselling. But this I rather judge to be a sault in the spelling; which neither Analogy nor Pronunciation justisies. ADVERB. denote some modification or In In English they admit of no Variation; except some sew os them, which have the degrees os Comparison: as, 4 osten, ostener, ostenest soon, sooner, soonest; and those Irregulars, derived srom Adjectives 5 in this respect likewise irregular; well, better, best, &c.
