What if your whole world was a lie?

The thrillingly dark conclusion to the No. 1 New York Times bestselling DIVERGENT trilogy, now available in paperback. DIVERGENT - a major motion picture series, INSURGENT movie release in 2015!

What if a single revelation - like a single choice - changed everything? What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected? The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered - fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she's known, Tris is ready.

Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories. But Tris's new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature - and of herself - while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice and love.

Told from a riveting dual perspective, Allegiant, by #1 New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth, brings the Divergent series to a powerful conclusion while revealing the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.

Veronica Roth

Veronica Roth graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in creative writing. While she was a student, she often chose to work on the story that would become Divergent instead of doing her homework.

It was indeed a transforming choice. Now a full-time writer, Ms Roth lives near Chicago. The third and final book in The Divergent Trilogy, ALLEGIANT, will come out on October 22, 2013.

In the meantime she will spend endless hours browsing Wikipedia in her pajamas as she eats corn flakes.

Veronica Roths Allegiant, was an action packed conclusion to the Divergent trilogy. As their world falls apart around them, Tris, Tobias and a few close friends head outside the fence to seek out the truth of Edith Priors message. What they discover will change their lives and their beliefs forever.

Unlike the first two books in the series, Allegiant is written from both Tris and Tobiass points of view. When I first realised this I was a little worried, especially as we have always seen Tobias from Triss perspective. I was scared his character would change or wouldnt live up to my expectations. Also, I sometimes find that switching between views can be disruptive to the story and can become annoying. However, in Allegiant it worked very well. I felt Veronica Roth captured Tobiass voice and it was interesting to see the contrast between Triss idea of him and the real Tobias. The transition between view points flowed well and helped to build the suspense in the story.

It was great to see Tris and Tobiass characters develop and grow stronger. Tris, in particular has come a long way from being a scared, little Stiff. Their emotions, imperfections and struggles make them truly unique characters that you come to love.

Allegiant answered a lot of the questions raised in the previous books about the Divergent and the world outside the city. The purpose of the faction system plays a key part in the plot and the real intent behind attacking the Abnegation is revealed. However, at times the plot stumbled a little in its explanations, particularly when it came to the science which seemed half hearted, perhaps with the aim of keeping it simple.

The ending was unexpected, to say the least. It was a very risky move by Roth, and many people may not like it. While I cannot say it was the ending I was hoping for, and it made me cry a little bit, it somehow felt right. Some may not agree, but I felt the ending stayed true to the story and to the characters and I applaud Roth for taking the risk and showing us that war isnt romantic.

While the story may have had a few plot holes and let downs, it was a thrilling conclusion to Tris and Tobiass journey. I immensely enjoyed this series from start to end and can highly recommend it to those seeking a new young adult dystopian or science fiction read.
