Bonkers: My Life in Laughs by Jennifer Saunders - the hilarious, touching life story of the iconic comedian and national treasure Jennifer Saunders' comic creations have brought joy to millions. From Comic Strip to Comic Relief, from Bolly-swilling Edina in Ab Fab to her takes on Madonna or Mamma Mia, her characters are household names. But it's Jennifer herself who has a place in all our hearts. This is her funny, moving and frankly bonkers memoir, filled with laughter, friends and occasional heartache - but never misery. Bonkers is full of riotous adventures: accidentally enrolling on a teacher training course with a young Dawn French, bluffing her way to each BBC series, shooting Lulu, trading wild faxes with Joanna Lumley, touring India with Ruby Wax and Goldie Hawn. There's cancer, too, when she becomes 'Brave Jen'. But her biggest battle is with the bane of her life: the Laws of Procrastination. As she admits, 'There has never been a Plan. Everything has been fairly random, happened by accident or just fallen into place. I'm off now, to do some sweeping...' Prepare to chuckle, whoop, and go Bonkers. Jennifer Saunders is a comedian, writer and actress.
She has won three Baftas (including the Bafta Fellowship), an International Emmy, a British Comedy Award, a Rose d'Or, two Writers' Guild Awards and a People's Choice Award. She also has a certificate for coming third in the discus at the Northwich Area Sports championships, and numerous rosettes for clear round jumping and gymkhana on her pony. She lives in Devon and London with her husband Adrian Edmondson. She has three daughters who are all grown up and have left home. They have been replaced with a whippet called Olive. She has recently been forced to become a grandmother despite only being 55. Bonkers is her first book.

Bonkers: My Life in Laughs is a very interesting read. I wasnt expecting much from it because its a known fact that Jennifer Saunders is a very private person. So, imagine my surprise when I heard she was releasing an autobiography.

Ive always felt that Jennifer Saunders is an entertaining person and reading this book only emphasised just how great she is. The book is very well-written. Saunders tells her story in a direct and honest manner, combined with her quick wit it es very enjoyable.

The comedienne talks about her battle with cancer; she does it with honesty and candidness that I found so touching. Ive always found her to be an inspiration and just reading about what she went through and her conviction not to let cancer bring her down makes me admire her all the more. I wish I had her ability to laugh at lifes worries.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an inspiring, laugh out loud story.

Jennifer Saunders Bonkers: My Life in Laughs is one of the best reads Ive had.

I heard the British comedienne was a bit guarded about writing an autobiography, but surprisingly it doesnt feel that way. I enjoyed reading about her life and as expected, giggled and laughed while doing so.

This may not be your typical autobiography where you are shown a chronological order of the authors existence, but we still get a glimpse of Jennifer Saunders life through the myriad of anecdotes in her book. Nevertheless, I didnt feel like I got less than what I paid for Bonkers: My Life in Laughs. After all, this book is written by a comedienne. I didnt expect blow by blow accounts of her family tree. Instead, I was expecting to have a good laugh while reading selected parts of the comediennes life; and that was what I got.

As expected by this Queen of comedy is a heart-warming tale of her rise to fame, her gorgeous family and the important friendships made along the way. At her core Jennifer Saunders is a down to earth and shy person who puts her family and friends as her priority, she has a fabulous sense of fun and an endearingly quick wit.

Its rather refreshing to hear about someone who managed to by all intense purposes stumble into their career as a comedienne/actress with a few leaps of faith and of course with the help of her good friend Dawn French. Her professionalism and passion for having fun have provided many a person with a great nights entertainment.

In this book Jennifer takes us on a journey of life thus far and with her detailed side stories it makes for one darn good read. Her incredible personal honesty, self-deprecating humour and humility are a beautiful reminder of what role models celebrities can be.
