Back in the early to mid 1990s The Celestine Prophecy was one of the most popular books among those that had even a hint of mysticism in them, or chemical assistance toward achieving it.

The book comprises episodes where the hero , written in the first person, launches on an expedition to discover the insights derived from an ancient scroll discovered in South America.

Of course the book is fiction but it contains an interesting set of ideals that it upholds as truths for the reader.

The Da Vinci Code in some ways is a little similar, however without the didactic approach. This book is a landmark from about two decades ago and is an easy and entertaining story.
