Checkers

Synopsis

A book for teenagers. Told by a girl who is in a psychiatric hospital. She feels that although she has parents, a brother and friends, the only one she could trust was her dog Checkers. From her thoughts and talk in group therapy, we learn of the way her life falls apart to the point where she is unwittingly responsible for the death of her beloved dog. The author has written many books for teenagers including 'Tomorrow When the World Began'and 'So Much to Tell You', the CBC Book of the Year in 1986.
