As a footballer he was no Brian Taylor and as a criminal he was no Squizzy Taylor, but Fabulous Fred Cook has lived the life that deserves to be told. If you love Aussie Rules footy, larrikins and true crime stories, then you’ve found the book. Paul Amy takes Fabulous Fred Cook and unwraps the stories and the hype, creating an easily readable and enjoyable story.
For the lovers on books on AFL, this is one for you.
I remember watching Fred Cook play for Port Melbourne, and also on the great channel 7 show "World of Sport".
Little did I know the turmoil that was burning within. His passion for footy, drugs and women was legendary.
Clearly the drugs took over later on and destroyed, what would have been a successful and full life.
A great tale by Paul Amy.
It’s a great book, however a sad story. Fred Cook was one of the legends of Football in the 80’s, and it was sad to see his demise. Fabulous Fred is a great book and worth reading.
