Synopsis

This first volume of the series, in two parts, provides an introduction to the series, and consists of a collection of review essays on many aspects of Australian mycology, placed in a world context. As well as discussing the classification of mushrooms, this text also introduces a new classification and provides keys devised by John Walker. It also includes chapters on the biology of fungi, the Australian aspects of the history of mycology, biogeography and fossil record, and a glossary of mycological terms.
