Turin is the largest city ever to host the Winter Olympics, but most people can't find it on a map. CBC radio sportscaster Kevin Sylvester paid a visit just before the 2006 Olympics took place. He discovered a city of grace and sophistication, with an uncertain future. Turin's history of wealth is evident in its grand architecture and rich cultural life. It contains many hidden treasures; three-hundred-year-old cafes, baroque royal palaces, hand-made chocolates, cheese and wine. But like many European cities, it is struggling as jobs disappear, costs rise and new immigrants arrive. Will the Olympics help Turin define a new identity?
