Synopsis

This 61st edition of the annual publication presents the principal labour statistics for over 190 countries, areas or territories. The data are grouped under nine chapters relating to: the economically active population; employment; unemployment; hours of work; wages; labour cost; consumer prices; occupational injuries; strikes and lockouts. Most of the tables cover the period 1991 to 2000. The figures have been drawn mainly from information sent to the International Labour Office by national statistical services or taken from official publications. Each chapter includes explanatory notes, and the text is in English, French and Spanish.
