Mitchell Grady has done it again. He is the Legend of Cricket. Surely Travis Fisk, the school thug who'll do whatever it takes to win, won't let him win three events in a row. What will he try this time? For the first time Mitch and Luci are pitted directly against their friends. It's one thing to play your enemies and win, but how does it feel to beat your friends? It's not all fair play when the stakes are high.

Mitchell Grady and his friends are back, this time battling it out for the Legend of Tennis title. But this time it’s different, this time Mitch and his friends will verse each other in an attempt to win the coveted title. Will this damage their friendships, or will being a good sport win out? One thing’s for sure, school bully Travis Fisk isn’t worried about anyone’s feelings, he’s out to win and has some dirty tricks up his sleeve to do so.

In the previous Legends novels author Michael Panckridge has tackled the ever-developing themes of friendship, competiveness and bullying; Down the Line is no different. With tennis being the sport focused on in the novel, Panckridge explores the emotions regarding playing competitively against friends, what that can do to friendships and how to have good sportsmanship.
