Awesome book!

This is a must read!!!

Violet's story is compelling, heart breaking, and completely addictive. I will be barely hanging on for the sequel coming out next year to find out what happens to Violet and Lincoln and if Phoenix comes back! (though I'm pretty sure he will!!)

This book surprised me in so many ways! All good!

When I sat down to read it, I was expecting more of the same. Teenagers, angst, angels and paranormal etc etc, which is generally fine because I quite like that. But every now and then you get a book which kinda blows you away. You know, you reach the last hundred pages and you're half falling over yourself to get to the end because you have to know what happens and half don't want to read on because you don't want it to end. Crazy!

I loved Violet. She is a strong heroine but she isn't fake. She finds out she is part angel and that she is destined to become this warrior. Well, it wasn't exactly what she was expecting or planning for her life and she has to decide if she is going to go on these 'trials' to be made into a Grigori (which is kinda like a guardian angel). It takes a pretty monumental event to spur her into a decision that she will have to live with forever.

Of course, Violet isn't the only great character in Embrace. The men in the book definitely tugged me in all directions! Lincoln, the irresistible long time love interest of Violet is gorgeous. He clearly loves Violet so much but has been forced to keep his distance and deny his and her feelings. Bound by his duties he tries desperately to steer a very reluctant Violet who, understandably is not sure who to trust after her discovery.

The bad boy of the book (and he does do bad very well) is Phoenix. He is ... well, the guy has talents! But like all the characters in this book, he has layers and though some of his actions are just plain wrong, others are definitely right. And the end of the book ... well I won't ruin it, but ... just read it!

Embrace is a fast paced, intelligent and well written novel by Jessica Shirvington. She has crafted the story and characters to give the story both a strong young adult and older reader audience too and she isn't afraid to throw a little sizzle on the romance scenes!

Great story, great read, great!



Best of all it is part of a series so the next one, Enticed, will be coming out in 2011.



Best angel paranormal I have read. I highly recommend this book!!
