On 31 October 2011 James Castrission and Justin Jones set out to achieve 'one of the last great polar adventures' an unsupported return journey from the edge of the Antarctic continent to the South Pole. This is a quest that has been attempted by many experienced polar explorers before them ... and all have failed. This book will detail everything: the preparation, the setbacks, the outset, the highs and the lows in brutally honest detail.

This expedition is the modern-day equivalent of the exploits of Scott, Amundsen and Shackleton. They are man-hauling a pulk with 200kg of provisions each.

Why they are doing this? Through realising a childhood dream and committing themselves to a groundbreaking expedition, they wish to inspire others to overcome fear and pursue their own adventures and dreams.

Two best mates, Two modern day heroes. This book will make you laugh, cry, and evoke a sense of what they went through to make their dream a reality. Not your average biography of a hard trip, but told in a way that helps you understand the environment, what it takes to complete it and the history behind the last explored land mass on earth.

truly inspirational.

If you want to read a book that makes you think and feel, read Extreme South. The emotion drips from every page. It made me cry, it made me laugh and it made me consider. You dont have to imagine, the words take you there, and sometimes to places you wouldnt want to be. Through it all, the friendship that exists between Cas and Jonsey and the developing friendship with Aleks is all inspiring and leaves you with a taste of what is right with this world.
