Few modern contemporary poets command the kind of global attention and ardour amongst millennials that Rupi Kaur has with her debut collection Milk and Honey, but she is much much more than simply another viral feminist poet. Milk and Honey is the kind of book that leaves you shaken, as if Rupi herself had reached into your head and taken your deepest thoughts and turned them into poetry.
Rupi’s poems are captivating, to say the least, and her manner of poetic expression is so clean - one might even say it’s economical. She conveys with a few simple lines what other poets take entire stanzas to say, but despite the simplicity of her style it never feels bereft of meaning. She has that unique ability to put universal but unspoken knowledge about sex, womanhood, culture, family and love into beautiful words - her poems expose ideas that you always knew to be true but somehow never managed to find the words for. If you read just one poem of hers, I particularly recommend ‘Vacation’ - but once you’ve read one, you will only want to read more!

  • Simplistic poetry at its bet

The poetry in a way is quite simple, however the words speak volumes. Absolutely treasure this book
