Gird, a peace-loving farmer's son, leads a peasant uprising against the tyrannical overlords. This is the prequel to The Deed of Paksenarrion (1992), which was originally published separately as Sheepfarmer's Daughter (1988), Divided Allegiance (1988), and Oath of Gold (1989). The Deed of Paksenarrion trilogy tells the story of a sheepfarmer's daughter named Paksenarrion who becomes a soldier, protected by her holy St. Gird medallion, and is eventually transformed into a Paladin, or warrior chosen by thegods.
