Previously published as 'Two Pearls of Wisdom' EON will bring this critically-acclaimed story to a new, younger audience. Under the harsh regime of an ambitious master, candidate Eon is training to become a Dragoneye - a powerful lord able to master wind and water to protect the land. But Eon also harbours a desperate secret - Eon is, in fact, Eona, a young woman who has endured years of disguise as a boy for the chance to practise the Dragoneye's art. In a world where women are only hidden wives or servants, Eona's dangerous deception is punishable by death. Still in disguise, Eona's unprecedented talent thrusts her into the centre of a lethal struggle for the Imperial throne. Summoned by the Emperor to the opulent and teacherous court, Eona must learn to trust her power and find the strength to face a vicious enemy who would seize her magic and her life. Inspired by the rich myths and traditions of Ancient China, this is a fast-paced, exhilarating page-turner that shimmers with energy dragons, and dazzles with deadly intrigue and breathtaking swordplay.

This is one of the best fantasies I have read in a long time!

Based on Japanese/Chinese traditions - it is unique, it is not completely predictable, its characters are so well developed (and there are trans genders and everything) and I just didn't want to put it down.

It also didn't have so many new words that it was a struggle to understand. You know how some series just chuck all this new terminologally at you and as you are reading you are like "oh wait what was that again?" Yeah that does not happen in this. Such a good read.

I would recommend to anyone who likes reading about fantasy, young adult or even just about awesome adventures because seriously this is just so good! Also I say young adult because the main protagonist is 16 (?) BUT I do not at all think that any adult would find this too simple or boring/lacking. It is so good!
