I recently discovered Karen Wood and have so far enjoyed both the books I have read. Whilst teen romance isn't my usual genre I thoroughly enjoyed Rain Dance.
Woods ability to describe the Australian landscape and incorporate current environmental issues gave the novel depth it otherwise might have lacked. Her writing also bought back many memories of being a teenager and all the emotions that you go through at that stage in life.
The characters are developed enough to hit all the themes out of the park, including overcoming difficulties, love,family,change and new experiences.
Both the main characters in the novel learn a lot about themselves but I mostly enjoyed the book for the nostalgic feeling I got reading it and the wonderful images of the Australian landscape Wood depicted so well.
