Wired for Life will help the reader understand the brain, providing insight into why we behave the way we do, make the choices we make and get the results that we do. Once we understand this, we realise that changing our minds can actually change our life!

Why do some people thrive while others merely survive? It seems that the answer lies not in the circumstances that we each experience, but rather, in our individual brains. The human brain may have evolved over millions of years, but it still uses the same basic survival mechanisms as it did when our earliest ancestors walked the planet. In this modern world, these default threat responses, which were originally designed to protect us, are more likely to sabotage us and hold us back from experiencing all that life has to offer. Wired for Life explains why we think, decide and act the way we do. It explores the five fears commonly triggered by our brains' threat response - fear of failure, fear of losing control, fear of standing out, fear of missing out, and fear of facing the truth - and how these fears creep undetected into so many parts of our lives, impairing our ability to experience happiness, freedom, success and fulfillment. Drawing on their experience with corporate and private clients, the authors reveal a three-step process for harnessing the power of our minds, overcoming fears, and creating the life we want. It shows us how to Wake Up, Think Differently, and Grow, changing your life in often surprising ways. Wired for Life will help the reader understand the brain, providing insight into why we behave the way we do, make the choices we make and get the results that we do. Once we understand this, we realise that changing our minds can actually change our life!

If you feel frustrated because no amount of 'positive thinking' can curb your negative knee-jerk reactions to life this book is for you.

Fortunately, you won't need to pore over science texts to discover for yourself how your brain is wired and why you drop into negative patterns despite your best intentions, because two Brisbane women have taken their shared years of gathered knowledge and translated it into simple explanations that are easily accessible.

Creators of the popular Mind Gardener range of mind training techniques Martina Sheehan and Susan Pearse tell us in Wired for Life how the brain functions, and most importantly, why it functions the way it does.

They shine a new light on age-old basic survival mechanics that have the brain constantly triggered by five dominating fears: fears of failure, losing control, standing out, missing out and facing the truth.

The brain needs to understand how and why things work before it can even begin to consider changing its point of view, so more than half the book guides (in simple terms) the reader through the machinations of the brain and how these five fear responses keep us repeating patterns and reactions over and over.

The book also provides three effective techniques that help to retrain the brain to make different choices to create a healthy brain that helps you to thrive.

Sheehan and Pearse provide practical tips and alternative mind sets to replace the negative fears that drive out decisions and behaviour plus a 7-day Mind Workout to kick start your new way of thinking!
