The life of Billy Somers, an ordinary twelve-year-old boy from an ordinary school, takes a dramatic turn amid the ruins of an old castle, where he discovers an ancient hourglass that possesses the power to take its owner through time. Little does he know that an ancient clan of priests, calling themselves “Librarians,” has been looking for that artifact and is now after Billy to get it back. The Librarians see the history of mankind as a book divided into chapters by major historical events, and the sole purpose of their life is to control these events.

Billy’s initial thrill and excitement give place to horror and despair when, betrayed by his longtime friend and childhood affection, he is sent into slavery in ancient Egypt. Unexpected help comes from a stranger. Eventually, Billy learns that this stranger is pursuing his own agenda and Billy is just a pawn in his game. Can this man be trusted?

From the burning heat of ancient Egypt to the bone-chilling cold of a modern Chinese winter, the adventure takes Billy to the final chapter of human history where Earth is greatly affected by global warming. Will Billy find his way home? Will he see his parents and friends again? Will everything remain unchanged when he gets back?
