I have just purchased a Kobo touch to replace my Kobo original which was dying of old age and over use. On the whole the two systems are the same and the set up of the new device went seamlessly. I was able to transfer files held in adobe to the new touch easily.

My one gripe about the touch is that when you are reading a book it does not easily change pages and you often have to "touch" up to three times just to go forward.
The buttons on the original Kobo were much more responsive and easily used.

The eInk technology is excellent particularly for people with eyes that cannot hand a light emitting screen without getting a headache.

My Kobo original would easily rate 5 stars. This product would aswell if the tocuh screen was a resposive as the original's buttons.

An good product that with a few minor changes would be brillant.

I have owned the Kobo Touch for about 6 months now. All in all i am satisfied with the product. Prior to owning the Kobo Touch we owned a Kindle for a year or so. The Kobo is nice, especially for the children, as navigation is based on book covers rather than just text lists. This is a big plus for us! In terms of performance, the device is reasonably quick when page turning. This said however, the touch interface does sometimes fail to detect finger touches when turning pages. This becomes a tad annoying when two (and sometimes three!) touches can be required to complete a page turn. Unfortunately for me, this happens in about 25% of the time, despite my familiarity with the device.

The new 2.0 firmware is a big improvement for the Kobo, allowing books to be organized into shelves. This was also a big improvement for me, as my device contains many books.

So, What don't I like about the product? Well, freeware books added to the device using Calibre (or straight disk-copy) don't have their covers handled very well. In many cases, the Kobo firmware generates thumbnail images from the epub documents that have white bars to the left and right (even when the correct aspect ratio is used). For a device that features book covers so prominently in the user interface, this is quite a big issue, especially if you are anally retentive about such things like me. I have been waiting patiently for a fix to this issue, and still hope it will be delivered by Kobo in the near future.

All in all i am happy with the device and have had a positive experience with it. For the price it wins over the Kindle and all other competitors in this reviewer's humble opinion. After 6 months I'm still happy and reading continuously.

Oh, and with sleep mode set to 5 minutes, i get approxiamately 3 weeks out of one battery charge. Pretty damn impressive!
