What is a Franchise?

A Franchise is a grant of a licence, which entitles the franchisee to conduct business using the name and proven business format of the franchisor. The franchisee purchases the right to use a system, access professional support and ongoing training and using the established name and benefits of the franchisor.

Business Format franchising in the retail sector is characterised by a consistent image, colour schemes, in-store signage and product range across all stores in a franchise group. The goodwill of the franchisor's brand is associated with the customer's perception in every store.
