You may be more comfortable with PDF files however ePub allows more flexibility on a greater number of eReading devices.
The main benefit of purchasing ePub formatted eBooks rather than PDF versions, is the ability to reflow and the change the font size according to your reading preferences.
The term given to this ability to resize the font is 'reflow', derived from the document adjusting itself according to the page margins when the font size is changed, in the same manner as a word-processing program, adding pages when the font size is increased and removing pages when the font size is decreased.
On many eReaders (except the Sony Reader range), PDF files are similar to a static image and increasing the font size simply zooms in on the image, pushing some of the content off the side of the screen on your device. On your computer the large screen tends to mask this however it can be tiresome on portable devices.
PDF eBooks from us will need to be downlaoded using Adobe Digital Editions. Our online guide to begin using this free and simple eBook management program can be found here.
Much like a photo, a PDF file does not offer the ability to increase and decrease font size in accordance with your preferences, unlike an ePub formatted eBook.
