Like any electronic device the Kobo eReader can occasionally fall over and require some assistance. Let's see if we can resolve it.

You may be more comfortable with PDF files however ePub allows more flexibility on a greater number of eReading devices.

The urllink.acsm file is a token that is used to trigger the ePub or PDF download through Adobe Digital Editions or the Sony software, Reader.

If you are using the Angus & Robertson app and cannot downlaod your eBooks when you click upon the 'UPDATE LIBRARY', then you may need to explore the settings to allow the app to connect to the online database where the eBooks are stored.

It may look confusing, but it's really quite simple and you can cccess your eBooks from multiple devices.
Just like a real book, you will need a source of light to read as there is no backlight on the screen. (Except the Kobo Glo)
The fact that the screen is not backlit is actually an advantage. Backlit screens tire the eyes and cause fatigue, eReader screens allow you to read for hours in comfort.
