EKATERINBURG is a compelling three act play that brings to life the gripping last weeks in the lives of the last Tsar of all the Russias and his family from their arrival at the Ipatiev House, 'The House of the Special Purpose', on 30th April 1918 until that fateful early morning on 17th July 1918. Using official authentic documents, diaries and letters, Australian playwright and Drama educator, Dr. David Logan, has brought to life one of the most tragic moments of twentieth century history. EKATERINBURG is full of great roles exploring each member of the last Russian Imperial Family, their faithful retainers and the revolutionaries who kept them imprisoned shut off from the outside world not knowing what destiny had in store for them. The loving relationship between Nicholas and Alexandra and their four beautiful daughters, Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia and their only son Alexis, sadly afflicted since birth with haemophilia, is explored as they share together both beautiful and tragic moments where their love for one another them allows them to make the best of an horrendous situation. Set against their love is the reality of a Russia outside the heavily guarded palisade of the Ipatiev House that has changed forever caught up in a bloody civil war, an outcome of the collapse of the rule Nicholas and Alexandra.
