Much more than the traditional travel guide, Philip Ward's travel novel is an enthralling account of his Indian experiences. The book transports the reader to northwest India to discover the wonders of the state of Rajasthan and the cities of Agra and Delhi. Also included are amusing anecdotes as well as fascinating and often little-known historical and cultural facts. This guide encourages travelers to be attentive and imaginative. Using Ward's guide, readers may visit familiar sites such as the Taj Mahal, or lesser-known locations such as the breathtaking summer palace in the city of Dig, but all are sure to encounter places and consider possibilities unexplored by the average visitor. Whether Ward is recounting a conversation he had with an Indian woman who was married at age eleven or exploring the bazaars of Agra, his keen insights and careful attention to detail will strike the reader as compelling, provoking, and above all, unique.
