A century ago, Orion Mason wrote a Medway history handbook covering the years 1713-1913, noting in reporter's terse style town events from war efforts to wedding anniversaries. With the approach of Medway's 300th birthday, a team of Medway Historical Society members were inspired to follow Mason's path and create a similar historical timeline, from 1914 to 2013. Authors note town and school growth in size and complexity, weather from drought to spectacular snowfalls, and the usual and unusual events of Medway daily life, all culled from town reports and local newspapers.To provide a broader background, Mason's 1713-1913 chronology has been reproduced in an easily readable format. And with it, there is Francis Donovan's 'Old Medway Locations', which provides the history behind many almost-forgotten places.
