If you don't read any other books after this make this your last! Nothing comes close to this beautifully written and emotionally told story of India and some people living through the history of the country. It's tragic - more tragic than you could ever imagine but it is true in every sense and so expertly written it changed the way I thought of books and the written word and how very powerful they can be. Read this!
I didn't want to read this book, but it was my Bookclub's choice - I am so glad I did, it's incredible and an absolute masterpiece. I love a book that opens my eyes to a world and life I could never have imagined and Rohinton Mistrey does exactly that....Amazing.
