Keith Shipley is a regular kid with Misery Guts for parents. Sick of gloomy life in London, he hatches a plan to move his even gloomier parents to sunny Australia. But when they arrive in Australia, his parents become Worry Warts. Fed up with their fretting and fussing, Keith comes up with a scheme to make them rich. Very, very rich. After all Keith's hard work, his parents split up and start putting on Puppy Fat. Exasperated with their laziness, he devises a strategy to whip them into shape - and find them new partners! It's a brilliant plan ... if he can pull it off!

Morris Gleitzman

Morris Gleitzman grew up in England and came to Australia when he was sixteen.

After university he worked for ten years as a screenwriter. Then he had a wonderful experience.

He wrote a novel for young people. Now, after 36 books, he's one of Australia's most popular children's authors.

In February 2018 Morris was chosen as the Australian Children’s Laureate for 2018-19.

I want to be an ambassador for the fears and hopes and dreams and dreads that young people have as they contemplate and navigate today’s world, and also as they think about the possibilities of their future adult worlds,’ Gleitzman said.

‘Much of my time will be spent championing stories as a medium for young people to engage creatively with those possibilities. Stories reveal themselves in our imaginations, our intellects and our emotions—all places where we work on our own destinies.’
