An ambitious, remarkable and moving novel about who we are: our past, present and future, and our connection to this land.
Reviewed by Ben at Angus & Robertson Bookworld:
The debut vaults the reader across time with separate narratives tethered to the same earth and waters, a place very close to the author’s heart. For some of her characters, this place is an alien world while, for others, it’s the only landscape they’ve ever known. The violent nature of the nation’s past and present is viewed simultaneously from different perspectives giving readers much to discuss. Rushing forwards and back through history like the crash of a wave, the high-paced stories corroborate to form an immense whole.
I was completely immersed in this magical thing, it’s a wonderful experience to read.
