Well, I'm going to start by saying I'm a huge Batman fan. I've read and bought a lot of Batman stories and this one... well, it's my favourite. Of all the Batman in all the world I am dubbing the Long Halloween my very favourite story.

What can I say? It's got it all! Mystery? Yes. Action? Yes. Super Villains? Yes, Yes, YES! So many villains I cant count them on one hand. If you count mobsters as villains I can count them on two hands.

Now, looking above I see that the synopsis is: NULL. That's a shame. I know how helpful NULL can be. Let me give you a brief run down. And I'm a big believer in NO SPOILERS, so don't worry your pretty little head.

The story is set a little after a story called 'Year One' (another excellent book). At this point in time Bruce Wayne is still learning and trying to decide what being Batman really means. Suddenly a vicious and mysterious killer appears in Gotham and starts picking people off one by one. And, as always, Batman has to stop him. Set over the course of a year we also see Batman dealing with mobsters and all his iconic enemies.

It's a lot of good, thrilling, gothic, smart fun. The art is wonderful (by Tim Sale). It was a large inspiration for The Dark Knight. And it'll keep you guessing, just about to the last page.

I've heard critics describe it as slow or cluttered and I can see how they could think that. But to me The Long Halloween is my favourite Batman story.

It might be yours to.
