Edward Bloom (Albert Finney) has always been a teller of tall tales about his magical life as a young man (played by Ewan McGregor), when his wanderlust led him from a small town in Alabama to implausible experiences in exotic locales far and wide. Bloom's mythic exploits dart from the delightful to the delirious as he weaves epic tales about giants, blizzards, a witch, and conjoined-twin lounge singers.

Bloom charms everyone he encounters except for his estranged son Will (Billy Crudup). When his mother Sandra (Jessica Lange) tries to reunite them, Will must learn how to separate fact from fiction as he comes to terms with his father's great feats and great failings.

In addition to the complete screenplay, this Newmarket Shooting Script book includes a foreword by Daniel Wallace, an introduction by John August, a special color photo insert capturing the film's vivid visuals, production notes, and complete cast and crew credits.

Tim Burton

Tim Burton is the creative genius behind Batman, Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhands, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, among others.

He began his career at Disney, where his first project was a six-minute tribute to Vincent Price. His second film, the twenty-seven-minute Frankenweenie, was deemed unsuitable for children and never released in cinemas.

John August

Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, John August earned a degree in journalism from Drake University and an MFA in film from USC. As a screenwriter, his credits include Big Fish, Charlie's Angels, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, and Frankenweenie.

In addition to his film career, he hosts a popular weekly podcast, Scriptnotes, with Craig Mazin. He also created the Writer Emergency Pack, an educational storytelling tool that was distributed to over 2,000 classrooms in partnership with non-profit literacy groups like 826LA and NaNoWriMo. John and his family live in Los Angeles.
