Tom Thompson has complied, in the eighty-three pages between these covers, information about Arthur Upfield’s time in Bermagui, along with stories about fishing that Upfield wrote for the Bermagui Big Game Anglers Club, of which he was Vice President and Treasurer, and many photographs from the Upfield Family archive.
Hard-core Upfield fans may be interested in the information and photographs, while big game anglers may enjoy the descriptions of fishing, but for the average reader, Bony investigating crime is interesting and intriguing; Bony fishing, Upfield fishing and writing about it are, frankly, boring.
Also included are a chapter from the Bony book set in Bermagui, The Mystery of Swordfish Reef, and a sixteen-page story, A Wisp of Wool and a Disk of Silver, in which a stockman living alone on a remote homestead believes he has committed the perfect murder - that is, until Bony comes along. This five-star tale is a small but excellent dose of Bony that saves this slim volume from a lower rating.
