Charlie Byrne and the Hostage Situation introduces Charlie as an awkward and unlikely hero who, via his sudden romantic involvement with private investigator Jemima Farrow in the Home Counties English town of Keebleton, is drawn into a situation in which he must attempt to free her from three hostage takers who are working for the most notorious drugs cartel of 1990s Columbia. Charlie will muster all his courage, gather around him a motley crew of have-a-go-heroes, and travel to Columbia on a mission to free Jemima. But things don't turn out quite as planned.
