Cress is the third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, following Cinder and Scarlet. Incarcerated in a satellite, an expert hacker and out to save the world - Cress isn't your usual damsel in distress. Cress grew-up as a prisoner. With only net screens for company she's forced to do the bidding of the evil Queen Levana. Now that means tracking down Cinder and her handsome accomplice Emperor Kai. But little does Levana know that those she seeks, and the man she loves, are plotting her downfall...As paths cross and the price of freedom rises, happily ever after has never seemed further away for Cress, Scarlet and Cinder. This is not the fairy tale you remember. But it's one you won't forget. "Fairy tales are becoming all the rage, with the TV shows Once Upon a Time and Grimm spinning them through a modern filter...Meyer's debut novel Cinder, though, combines a classic folk tale with hints of The Terminator and Star Wars". (USA Today.com). [praise for Cinder] About the author: Marissa Meyer's first two books in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Scarlet, debuted on the New York Times bestseller list. Marissa lives in Tacoma, Washington, with her husband and their three cats. Also Available: Cinder Scarlet Cress And don't miss: Winter.

This book is my favourite in the series. It's so much fun to read and is what made me love YA Sci-fi genre. I could re-read this over and ver and never get bored or sick of it. This whole series is a must for YA fans who also love fairytales.

It's clear this is YA series but it is a great story. Once I began, I did not want to put them down. I was reading every chance I could find.

If you want a good story that is not full of sex and gore, but still full of adventure and romantic entanglements, unrequited love and thrilling heroics, and simply, a good fun read, this series is it.

Personally I also love all the obvious and sneaky allusions to fairy stories and I love how they've been pulled out of their fantasy settings and molded into this scifi series set in earth's future and the relatable history that bought them to this future.

I own the digital books but bought the physical books because my shelves needed to display them.

The third in the Lunar Chronicles series, Cress. You're propelled straight back into the adventure, the group are on a mission to save Cress from her satellite and return to earth. Meyer introduces the new characters brilliantly and builds on already much loved ones from the previous books. This series just keeps getting better - can't wait to for the release of the final, Winter.

Cinder, Scarlet, Thorne and Wolf are on the run from the Commonwealth and the Lunars alike, but the crew of the stolen Rampion are soon to be joined by the strange young girl who has been helping them along the way from her hidden satellite stronghold and prison Cress. Can the group come together and work out a way to stop the royal wedding before its too late and the Lunar occupation of the Earth begins?

I am an enormous fan of this series, although I was slightly less enthusiastic about the second book, Scarlet, than I was with Cinder. Thankfully, Cress takes everything I loved about the first book and runs with it, making this book a joy to read. The pace was just right, with the action flipping between each group of characters between chapters. It makes for compulsive reading and just continues to build up towards the epic conclusion that is sure to come in the fourth book, Winter.

The characters and their interactions are really very done in this book. Almost everyone has development of one sort or another, and the witty exchanges between Captain Thorne and pretty much everyone had me grinning through the whole story. Its great to see Cinder starting to come to terms with where this whole adventure is leading her. I really have no idea what to expect in Winter, except that the character of the other Lunar princess seems very interesting and slightly disturbing.

The one thing I will say that may turn some off this series (but which I kind of loved) is the fact that a new couple groups up in each book. The romantic aspects of each have been delightful, but they are all super-sweet romances and could do with a bit more I dunno. Real-life couples arent nearly all so romantic!

For yet another fairytale retelling, this one passes a lot closer to the Rapunzel original than the previous two books, with Cress being trapped in her satellite, rescued by the Prince, the blindness all touches that I loved. At the same time, Marissa Meyer manages to weave together more of Cinder and Scarlets stories to create an incredibly convoluted but comprehensible story of political intrigue, war and sacrifice.

If you loved Cinder and Scarlet, make sure you get your hands on Cress as soon as you can you wont be disappointed. Bring on Winter!

Having spent the past seven years admiring Earth from her satellite prison, Cress; a talented hacker from the moon colony of Lunar, dreams of her own adventure and romance. However, she isnt sure how to react when contacted for help by Earths most wanted fugitive, Cinder, who she has been ordered to track. When a rescue attempt of Cress by Cinder and Captain Thorne, Cresss crush, goes horribly wrong, Cress puts her skills to use to prevent the Lunar take over and save the world.

I had been waiting for months for the third instalment of Marissa Meyers The Lunar Chronicles, Cress. To say I had high expectations for this book would be an understatement, and thankfully, Cress delivered. Extremely well written and at times laugh out loud funny, I really enjoyed this book and getting to know Cress. While I didnt love it as much as Cinder, I felt it was an improvement on Scarlet, which moved too slowly and didnt add much to the story in my opinion.

We still get to see plenty of the other leading ladies, with chapters alternating between Cinder, Scarlet and Cress and we finally get some of the romance weve been waiting for. While Cinder and Scarlet are still great at kicking Lunar butt, I have to say Iko has become my favourite character. She adds much needed humour to the saving the world from evil plot. The descriptions Meyer gives of the Ikos emotions being expressed via the ship are genius.

Somehow Meyer manages to blend the traditional fairy tales of Cinderella, Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel with a world full of aliens, cyborgs and werewolves. A very impressive feat and incredibly well carried out.

From the beginning I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. It was agony waiting the year out after reading Scarlet and wanting to carry on with the story. But it was well worth the wait!

Cress (otherwise known as Rapunzel in a twisted sci-fi sort of way) is the typical damsel in distress, trapped in a satellite high up in the sky away from her home planet, Lunar and far from Earth. She doesn't get to see anyone, or talk to anyone but her mistress. But through her technological ways (because she's a serious "nerd" with computers, spying, hacking and the like) she has met Cinder and her entourage.

Then comes the rescue...with a shocking twist of fate that sends her and Thorne tumbling to their untimely demise...or do they? And the plan to end the marriage alliance and win over the people Lunar is one to look forward to in the next book.

But anyway, the story flows so well and so quickly that you'll have problems leaving it to do something else - say feed your children, or remember to breathe. It is such an engaging novel (like it's predecessors) that it'll have you screaming for more.

For those brave enough to have put off reading Cinder and have that and Scarlet in to TBR list, I think it wise to leave it there...wait for the whole series and then read them all the way through without stopping. But if you can't wait that long, then join the rest of us in the waiting game and hope we don't climb the walls before the next one comes out!!! They are a total must read for lovers of fantasy, children's storys and sci-fi.
