The book contains a little bit about each of many places where cruise liners dock. The level of selectivity about attractions is very helpful to those who have typically 6-8 hrs in the place - only top-notch stuff gets mentioned. This is a contrast with the usual Eyewitness Guides to a country or city which include too many possibilities for a cruise-passenger to contemplate in a day. This book is effectively abstracts from many other publications, with little new material - e.g. the 6 pages about Rome (whose port is Civitavecchia) can be found in the Rome book. More than 70 destinations in 22 countries and one region ("North Africa") are covered, including some places where cruise lines do not go right now, e.g. Syria.

Strongly recommended for first-timers in the countries/places covered - maybe even if not as visitors off a cruise ship.
