I am Watcher, Guardian of Reason. I bring your last chance.
I see your future. Fate has given you the number thirteen, for the thirteen steps ascending a gallows deck and the thirteen twists in a hangman's knot.
Stop drinking and drugging before the midnight hour. Tomorrow is too late. Life doesn't exist in the thirteenth hour. Not for you. Not for any creature. The thirteenth ends in death.
Demimonde is about a young man, Vonn Thrasher, and his journey to sobriety and spiritual awakening. From the town of Baser, to Ism Harbor, he must find passage through pit and peril to Sobriety Island—or die.
Demimonde: a half-world, a catchall, an in-between place for people who lose their roots, their family and history. Once there, they become trapped in a hopeless maze of addictions and insanity.
The Ordonne: mortal enemies of Demimonde. They sail the Sea Of Booze on the Sponsor Ship, powered by twenty-four oars and sails. A sober sailor’s life (recovery) is hard dangerous work. Sea monsters and storms are never far behind.
Sobriety Island: the Pious Trail leads to home and sober life. But dangerous enemies lay in ambush, willing to kill rather than relinquish what they own, the life and souls of those trapped in Ling camps and Shantytowns.
Demimonde explores the alcoholic bottom, when consequences push them to find a new way of life or die trying, or … fall into a pit of insanity, lost in the streets forever.
