'I was pulled into simple living before I knew what it was.

It crept up on me using the smallest of steps and didn't reveal its true beauty and real power until I was totally hooked. I was searching for a way to live well while spending very little money.

What I found was a way of life that also gave me independence, opportunity and freedom.'

Rhonda Hetzel gently encourages readers to find the pleasure and meaning in a simpler life, sharing all the practical information she has gathered on her own journey.

Whether you want to learn how to grow tomatoes, bake bread, make your own soap and preserve fruit, or just be inspired to slow down and live more sustainably, Down to Earth will be your guide.

I was not sure what I was expecting when I first started to read this book. Quaint, yes, but life changing, this I had not expected. This book is an inspiration in simple, mindful, practical, manageable, money saving, realistic living with small impact on the earth. I have reread this book numerous times. It has inspired me to change my life, less materialistic, more meaningful, less rushed, more meaningful. I cannot recommend this book enough. Have a read, you too will find inspiration in this friendly, well written and positive book

I was given this book as a gift and it has been a valuable resource (recipes for food, cleaning products), homemaking tips, and general encouragement that it is, in fact, very much ok to be a homemaker and do it well. I really recommend this book for anyone who needs inspiration and guidance in their homemaking.

I love, love, love this book!! I started off reading Rhonda's blog and realized very quickly that I had to have the book as well. It is now my bible and my constant inspiration to change my life from the more, more, more mentality that we all have towards a simpler and easier life. As a former stay at home mum I am thrilled at how much Rhonda values homemaking. Buy it - you will not regret it for one moment!
