Eastern Asia is a comprehensive survey of East Asian history and politics. It is a reliable, coherent and interesting survey of the history of East and South East Asia from the sixteenth century to the present.

It also offers a broad overview and summary of key cultural, political, economic and religious practices and influences in six Asian nations: China, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Vietnam and Thailand. The last two chapters present an Australian perspective, as they are devoted to Australia's relations with, and perceptions of Asia. This text contains a first class list of contributors, many of who are regarded as authorities in their field of research and teaching.
