Every year, we slaughter 60 billion land animals and one trillion marine animals for our consumption, an unparalleled scale that raises pertinent ethical questions. After all, this practice aggravates the problem of hunger worldwide, causes ecosystem imbalances, and damages our own health. This clearly written essay invites us to change our mentality about the food we eat and become more benevolent members of the global ecosystem.
