A childhood memoir that recalls events from the life of a Cuban boy. A chilling account of trust and achievement, deceit and failure, and faith in the noble life-lessons learned from his family, the author relates his tale through the filter of magical realism. He describes a young life lived amongst circumstances involving a wealthy family navigating life demands in mid-twentieth century Havana.

At age 12, he was forced to emigrate to the United States the night power changed hands in Cuba, January 1 1959, The book is divided into two sections: Cuba (before 1/1/1959) and Exile (after 1/1/1959). Major challenges induce him to turn into a Superhero, (Superboy) who grows to become an adult, (Superman) who overcomes some of his childhood weaknesses.

The author, (Orlando Garcia-Piedra MD) asks his family ghosts: Mom, Dad and his brother, Humberto, and God for help in writing his memoir. They accept and become his coauthors, leading most "conversations."
