He wrote co pious rflhrginal notes to the works of Linnaeus, and other writers in the three kingdoms of nature and Mr. Mason further observes, that, excepting pure mathematics, and the studies dependent on that sci ence, there was hardly any part of human learning in which he had not acquired a competent skill in most of them a'consummate mastery.
