Little is said of the dark side of Nepal but this book takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions as you read about a surgeon and his volunteer medical team who face each crisis head on in remote areas of this country. The joys and strength from the camaraderie they develop unites them as they strive to make a real difference by determining to build a permanent hospital. If you want an understanding of a man's passion and endurance, knowing the incredible challenges to be faced, then you have to buy this book. I read it in a day and a half, putting it down only to wipe away either tears of sadness or joy, and then immediately read it all over again.

An amazing emotional and inspirational story. I really felt connected to all the characters. Heartbreak, happiness and humour a wonderful read.
