This book is the second in a series of local picture histories. Four people who know Highley intimately have pooled their knowledge to compile a book on this village in South Shropshire. In particular, they have hunted out old photographs, finally selecting 84 as illustrations to their book. These photographs, spanning about a century, record people, events, outings, scenes, buildings and vehicles, many of which have long since vanished. Turning the pages reveals a wealth of pictures of charabancs, horses, carts, the River Severn frozen over, the collieries, the railway . . all these elements in Highley's past come to life.
