Whether you are a local or a visitor, it's the ideal way to while away a few long lazy holiday afternoons, or to unwind and de-stress after a busy day. Lose yourself in an intricate web of Adelaide icons, in the branches of a jacaranda, diving under the ocean or wandering the banks of the Torrens. The completed coloured images make a perfect gift for overseas friends. Then again, they will probably want a copy of their own to colour from scratch...This charming and well-researched colouring book also includes postcard versions of the illustrations, ready to colour and send.

As well as being an illustrator, printmaker and writer, Sally Heinrich is an accomplished procrastinator. The illustrations in this book grew out of doodles she created when she really should have been meeting some deadlines. Despite this, she has managed to illustrate more than thirty books and her work has been recognised through fellowships from the Asialink Foundation, The May Gibbs Children's Literature Trust, Varuna - the Writers' Centre, Arts SA and the Ian Reed Foundation. Her original artwork and linoprints have been exhibited in Australia and Asia including in the Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize, and is held in collections in many countries.

About the Author

Sally Heinrich is a writer, illustrator and artist, who has published and exhibited widely in Australia and Asia.

Sally has illustrated more than twenty books as well as writing and illustrating her own picture books and novels and a series of non-fiction information and activity books about various Asian countries. Besides publishers, clients include advertising and environmental agencies, design studios and Government departments. Her commissioned artwork ranges in scale from wine labels to a mural for the Singapore Zoo.

Her work draws on her experiences travelling and living in Asia and reflects her deep interest in Asian culture, art, religion, and folklore and traditions from both East and West. The search for connections and relationships between peoples, cultures and the environment, and for a sense of place and of belonging, are recurring themes in her writing, artwork and her life in general.

For the last fifteen years, Sally has regularly run workshops in creative writing and illustration for both children and adults. She has also helped facilitate the creation of collaborative artworks. In schools she also offers workshops on cross-cultural arts or activities, celebrations or traditions, for example the Chinese Mid-Autumn (Moon Lantern) Festival or Indian Diwali. Sally is happy to discuss options to develop workshops or projects to fit a particular focus.

Her work has been recognised through fellowships from the Asialink Foundation, The May Gibbs Children’s Literature Trust, Varuna-the Writer’s Centre and Arts SA, and her original artwork and lino-prints have been exhibited in Australia and Asia.
