Lux: Beginnings by Jennifer Armentrout:

Now available together for the first time, don't miss Obsidian and Onyx, the first two books in Jennifer L. Armentrout's bestselling Lux series. Also includes bonus content exclusive to the print edition "A thrilling ride from start to finish," says RT Book Reviews.

Obsidian

There's an alien next door. And with his looming height and eerie green eyes, he's hot...until he opens his mouth. He's infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, he marks me. Turns out he has a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal his abilities and the only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to him until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is.

Onyx

Daemon's determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I've sworn him off, even though he's running more hot than cold these days. But we've got bigger problems. I've seen someone who shouldn't be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he's never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them--from me?

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this book, since a few of my friends haven't spoken so highly of it. It begins with Obsidian, which shows a normal small town with a new comer named Katy, who moved there with her mother for a new beginning from her father's death a couple years ago with cancer. She seems like you average likable girl ( especially since she's an avid reader, which made her even more likable!)From there, she meets twins which are her new neighbors, Daemon and Dee, impossibly beautiful and also vastly different from each other. Dee is outgoing and talkative, clearly straining for friendship whereas Daemon is your brooding character who dislike Katy immediately and tries to keep her away from Dee by being well, awful. But yet, Katy can't keep her thoughts away from Daemon, and his "hott" body... I know. Sounds like Twilight. But, this novel is more relate-able as Katy definitely tries uncover the weird vibe she gets from the family, including how they can move so fast and not make a sound, or how the weather just changes suddenly when they are around... and finds out they are aliens. With supernatural powers. And extremely "foreign" alien enemies that could leave them all dead in a second if they aren't careful. Need I say more?

Opal, the next book in the beginnings, is absolutely packed with twists and turns and before you think you know something.. it changes. Katy goes through some epic battles as well as drama filled romance as everything from Obsidian comes into question in Opal... the ending also leaves you instantly running to your car for the nearest book store for the next book in this series. Worth it!
