This book is so important to me.

To have a healthy old age you must act now, whether you are 30 or 50. I have two great passions – sharing my love of cooking delicious simple food and improving the health and nutrition of older people. I hope this cookbook does both but it’s not for ‘old’ people, it’s for you.

I have been delighted to work with leading Alzheimer’s researcher Professor Ralph Martins in recent years and I have learned that if we are to avoid Alzheimer’s and other lifestyle diseases it is what we eat today that matters.

These are my recipes for every day, for everybody, full of deep flavours and beautiful ingredients that will nourish you and your family. Nobody wants to eat worthy food that tastes like cardboard. For me, food without flavour is unthinkable! And so is the notion of restricting whole food groups. My recipe for life is to have a healthy attitude to eating – it’s all about balance, variety and choosing foods that give you the best chance of being in good health now and into your future. This is not a diet book it’s a way of life.

  • Great Book by Maggie Beer

I have read Maggie Beer's latest book Recipe for Life and found it to be a great read. The book is not a diet book as such. It is more a lifestyle. Excellent.

  • Much needed book to maintain lifelong health.

Thank you to Maggie Beer and Professor Martins for an excellent book and to Rosemary Stanton for her foreword. This area is a "minefield of conflicting /pet theories" so a special thank you to the authors and publishers. for a book where the content is useful, balanced, and based on well regarded current nutrition and health. I am impressed, so another copy will be ordered for family.

I intend to add the title to a reference list for students involved in diabetes care. The sections on longevity and dementia are timely, topical, easy to follow) and evidence-based. (perhaps (a few key references for a 2nd ed.? please) .
The list of foods to embrace is excellent. The recipes look good, I am looking forward to trying some of those when colder weather comes..
The A4 format lends itself to an attractive layout with illustrations and diagrams that enhance the content and,a good index is included. Will online access be available. Apologies if this is already the case.. Paperback next?? Please.

This purchase was given to my 56yr old Daughter in Law who loves cooking and has actually visited Maggie's property in South Australia. I gave it to her for Christmas and said she loves it. It was signed by the two authors.
