This story follows three years in the life of eight-year-old Scout Finch, her brother, Jem, and their father, Atticus. The three years are punctuated by the arrest and eventual trial of a young black man accused of raping a white woman. The result is a tough and tender novel of race, class, justice, and the pain of growing up, all through the eyes of a young girl.

Harper Lee

Harper Lee was born in 1926 in Monroeville, Alabama. She attended Huntington College and studied law at the University of Alabama.

She is the author of the acclaimed novels To Kill A Mockingbird and Go Set A Watchman, and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and numerous other literary awards and honours.

She died on 19 February 2016.
