Max, a seagull pays regular visits to his friend Bob, the local fish and chip shop owner keeping him company at his shop and in the evenings while Bob fishes at the jetty. One day, Max notices one day the shop isnt open and Bob isnt sitting by the jetty, so Max flies around hoping to find his friend.

This is a beautiful hardback picture book from Australian author and illustrator Marc Martin that is filled with bright and colourful illustrations, an endearing story of the friendship and fish and chips.

In Max, not only do we get a lovely story about a seagull who's best friend is a fish and chip shop owner, we also get some fabulous art that wouldn't be out of place hanging on a modern art gallery's wall.

This is the perfect gift for any parent who is into graphic design. Both they and their child will love it, just as me and my son do. I'll be surprised if this isn't nominated for the Children's Book Council Award in multiple categories.
