Wafa' Tarnowska is a children's author, story teller, broadcaster and translator. Born in Lebanon, she has lived, studied and worked in several countries, including Australia and Dubai. She is now settled in the UK, in Hertfordshire, from where she does her writing and translating. AMAZING WOMEN OF THE MIDDLE EAST is her sixth book for children, her last one being the award winning ARABIAN NIGHTS, which was translated into several languages. A passionate storyteller, Wafa' brings the wonder and richness of different cultures to young readers, and also young audiences through her storytelling events.

Vali Mintzi was born in Romania and studied at the prestigious Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem. She works as an illustrator and graphic editor for the children's art magazine Einayim. In 2012 she was awarded The Israel Museum Ben-Yitzhak Award for the Illustration of a Children's Book. Her vibrant and evocative style is influenced by painters such as Bonnard, Hockney and Matisse. She has also illustrated The Girl with a Brave Heart for Barefoot Books.
