Excerpt from Pierre Nozi re It was, I admit, with but qualified success that I endeavoured to follow the precise sequence of events. I used to get hopelessly lost in the wars of the Philistines and the Amalekites. What chiefly excited my wonder in these nations was their headgear. The variety of it still amazes me. There were helmets and crowns, bonnets and turbans of the most remarkable description. Never, so long as I live, shall I forget the head-dress which Joseph wore in Egypt. Call it a turban if you will - a turban it was, and a big one at that; but it was surmounted by a species of pointed bonnet whence issued an aigrette and a couple of ostrich feathers. It was unquestionably a formidable covering.
