POEMS OF PEAK AND DALE is a collection of poems on subjects associated with Derbyshire and the Peak District. The poems, which vary in form and style, reflect the author's love of his surroundings. They are grouped thematically. For example, some are inspired by the beautiful Derbyshire landscape, while others focus on town life. Yet others are about local places of interest, including churches and other ancient buildings. Famous people associated with the area are not neglected and there are poems, for example, about Bonny Prince Charlie and the romantic Dorothy Vernon. The author has lived in the attractive town of Matlock for many years and has written books on a variety of subjects. Another collection of poems entitled BEYOND SCAFELL is published simultaneously with this book. Alan Robinson has published poems in a number of journals and anthologies and has also published many previous collections of his own poetry. He has also published educational books, several non-fiction books, a novel and some short stories. He was born in Cumbria and lived there for many years, but for the last twenty five years he has lived in the Derbyshire Dales. He feels very fortunate to have spent most of his life in two such beautiful areas as the Lake District and Peak District. He is now able to pursue his interest in writing full time at home. His other interests are travelling, collecting pictures and visiting sites of historical interest.
